ADVISORY(TM) is a complete middle grades advisory program for three grade levels. These levels allow for differentiation among three grade configurations that are housed within a given school setting such as 4, 5, and 6; 6, 7, and 8; or another configuration unique to a particular setting. The total curriculum incorporates four major themes. Because advisory programs vary from school to school with regards to scheduling and time allocations, this curriculum is planned to afford flexibility in presentation to meet widely varying individual school needs. The core set of required activities is supported by a collection of optional projects to accommodate advisory groups that meet daily or groups that meet fewer times each week. The outline for each of the nine core curricular lesson plans is concise and uniform. Each activity has a title, Purpose, Points to Ponder, and Projects to Pursue. In addition, each of the four themes features a set of investigation topics on relevant topics organized around Bloom's Taxonomy. Journal page suggestions for each theme offer still another opportunity for enriching the advisory time through the use of famous proverbs or quotations as springboards for student writing.
